Welcome to the Movement
Bro. You're a writer. First off, welcome. You've somehow managed to pick one of the coolest, most frustrating, most rewarding skillsets on the planet.
Chances are, you're here because you want to finish a book. Maybe your first. Maybe your tenth. Maybe your 190th.
You probably want to write something that impacts people. Maybe for Jesus. Maybe you just have a story you can't stop thinking about and need to get out of your head.
Either way, writing is hard.
- Like… “Why am I still on chapter three after six months?” hard.
- “Why did I rewrite this scene for the seventh time?” hard.
- “Why does everybody else seem to know what they're doing except me?” hard.
Meanwhile, social media is full of authors crushing it. Other writers seem more talented. Everyone else appears to be making progress. And you're left wondering if you're actually called to write at all. Or if this whole thing is just a hobby you've somehow convinced yourself matters.
But despite all that… you still keep coming back.
Because deep down, you love writing.You love stories. You love creating. And maybe that's exactly why it hurts so much when writing starts feeling more like pressure than joy.
If writing is truly something you love… something you believe God may have given you… and something you want to use to glorify Him… then why does it feel so difficult?
Meet
Jesus Writing Month
I'm not going to sit here and promise to cure writer's block. I can't do that. What I can do is share the idea that changed everything for me.
What if writing was never meant to be another source of pressure? What if it was meant to be worship?
Because whether we realize it or not, every gift we've been given ultimately belongs to God. Our time. Our abilities. Our stories. All of it.
And when we start seeing writing as something we're stewarding for Christ instead of something we're using to prove ourselves, something interesting happens. Writing gets lighter. Not easier. But lighter.
The pressure begins to lift. The comparison starts losing its grip. And writing becomes less about performance and more about faithfulness.
That's the heartbeat behind Jesus Writing Month. We take the idea of a traditional writing challenge and flip it on its head. Instead of asking “How much can I produce?” we ask “How can I faithfully steward what God has entrusted to me?”
That's why we don't force everyone into the same goal.
- Some writers will write 50,000 words.
- Others will write 5,000.
- Some will finish a novel.
- Others will build a writing habit.
Both are worth celebrating.
Because success isn't determined by somebody else's calling. It's determined by faithfulness to your own.
And that's exactly what Jesus Writing Month is designed to help you discover.
So How Did This Whole Thing Start?

Fair question. After all, I'm over here talking about writing as worship and surrendering your story to Christ. You'd probably like to know where that idea came from.
Well… one year ago, Jesus Writing Month didn't exist. I was just a writer trying to help other writers. And honestly? I was failing. Every project I launched seemed to go nowhere. Courses. Challenges. Videos. You name it. Nobody cared.
I was frustrated, discouraged, and seriously wondering if I should just move on. Then a question started bothering me…
What if writing was never meant to be another source of pressure? What if God never intended us to spend our creative lives comparing ourselves to everyone else? What if writing could become worship?
Not someday when we became successful. Not after we got published. Not after we hit some arbitrary goal. Right now. Exactly where we are.
That question changed everything. So for the next six months, I built an experiment. An event centered around Jesus. An event where writers would surrender their stories to Christ. An event where success would be measured by faithfulness instead of comparison. I had absolutely no idea if anyone would show up.
Then registration opened.
The first writer signed up. Then another. Then another. And before we knew it, over 500 Christian writers joined us. What happened next is still one of the greatest privileges of my life to witness.
Writers found peace. Writers found community. Writers fell deeper in love with Jesus. Writers who expected burnout left feeling free. And to this day, I take absolutely zero credit for it. Only Jesus.

It's crazy how much Jesus has changed my mindset throughout 30 days! The day before I joined, I had been crying out because I felt so stuck, so jealous of others. And now? I feel warm and peaceful.

A Community of Christian Writers
Without a doubt, this was my favorite part of last year.
When most people hear “online community,” they imagine a giant server where nobody knows each other. That isn't what we've built.
Instead, you'll find hundreds of Christian writers praying for one another, sharing victories, encouraging each other through hard seasons, and pursuing Christ together. Some of my favorite friendships from the past year started inside this community.
Live Events & Writing Sprints
Throughout the month, we'll host live events designed to encourage, equip, and inspire writers.
We'll also host writing sprints where we gather together, set goals, and make progress on our projects. Guest speakers will be announced closer to the event kickoff.
Personal Goal Tracking
One of the biggest differences between Jesus Writing Month and many other writing challenges is that we don't force everyone into the same goal.
Some writers may want to write 50,000 words. Others may want to write 5 chapters. Others may simply want to build a consistent writing habit. All of those goals are worth celebrating.
You'll be able to track your progress throughout the month and focus on the goals God has placed in front of you.

The stickers were a huge hit last year, and honestly, they just make me happy. So we're doing them again.
Why We Limit Community Access
This part is important.
Last year, one of the most common pieces of feedback we received was how much people loved the community.
Writers felt known. They felt encouraged. They felt like they were part of a family.
As exciting as growth is, I never want to lose that. Because of that, we intentionally limit community access each year.
This year, community membership will be capped at approximately 700 writers. Once those spots are filled, new registrants will be placed in overflow access. Overflow participants will still receive event updates and access to select resources, but community access is reserved for those who join before the cap is reached.
This isn't a marketing gimmick. It's our attempt to protect the culture that made Jesus Writing Month special in the first place.
We would rather serve a smaller group well than grow so quickly that we lose what matters most.

A Final Message From the Founder
Hey friend,
There's a good chance we've never met. But if you're reading this, we probably have something important in common: we both love stories. And more importantly, we both love the God who gave us the ability to tell them.
Over the past year, I've had the incredible privilege of watching Jesus work through this community in ways I never could have imagined. I've watched writers find freedom. I've watched prayers get answered. I've watched friendships form. I've watched writers discover that they don't have to carry the pressure of their stories alone.
And through all of it, I've become more convinced of one thing: God is doing something special among Christian writers. Not because of me. Not because of Story Stewards. And certainly not because of Jesus Writing Month. But because Jesus is faithful.
This event exists because I believe writing is a gift worth stewarding. It exists because I believe Christian writers need community. And it exists because I believe that when writers place Christ at the center of their creativity, beautiful things happen.
So whether you decide to join us this year or not, I want you to know something:
Your writing matters. Not because it will make you famous. Not because it will sell a million copies. But because God can be glorified through faithful stewardship of the gifts He has entrusted to you.

Yep. Jesus Writing Month is completely free to join. We do offer optional donations for those who feel led to help sponsor the event, but donations are never required and have no effect on your participation.
If you're one of the first 250 writers to register, yes! You'll receive an exclusive Year Two Jesus Writing Month sticker as part of our free welcome package.
Jesus Writing Month is open to writers ages 14 and up. We welcome both teen and adult writers. Because we have minors in the community, we maintain strict safety policies, including disabled direct messaging, no external links, and active moderation throughout the event.
Absolutely not. One of our biggest beliefs is that every writer is on a different journey. Some writers may decide to write an entire novel. Others may focus on a few chapters, a short story collection, a screenplay, or simply building a consistent writing habit. You set your own goal.
Nope! While many of our members write fiction, we welcome all kinds of writers, including nonfiction writers, poets, screenwriters, playwrights, devotional writers, and more.
Then you're in good company. Many of our members join because they're trying to build consistency, gain confidence, and finally make progress on projects they've been putting off for years.
The community is hosted on our private platform. Access information will be sent to registered writers before the event begins.
Yes! Every participant receives access to our custom goal tracker. Unlike many writing challenges, we don't force everyone into the same goal. Whether you're aiming for 5,000 words, 50,000 words, or something completely different, you'll be able to track your progress throughout the month.
This year's event will include writing sprints, guest speakers, community gatherings, our kickoff celebration, and more. Additional details will be announced closer to the event.
Not at all. All live events are optional. Many writers attend every event, while others simply participate through the community and their personal writing goals.
That's entirely up to you. Some writers spend several hours each day writing. Others participate with just a few writing sessions each week. The goal is faithful progress, not keeping up with everyone else.
If you love Jesus and you love writing, there's a very good chance you'll fit right in. Whether you're a brand-new writer or someone who has been writing for decades, our goal is the same: to help writers approach creativity with greater peace, freedom, and faithfulness.
Jesus Writing Month is free to attend, but it still costs money to run. Optional donations help cover event expenses and allow us to continue serving Christian writers around the world.

No worries! To protect the family-like culture of Jesus Writing Month, community access is limited each year. Once community spots are filled, new registrants will be placed into overflow access. Overflow participants will still receive: • Access to all live events • Event announcements and updates • The goal-tracking system • Event emails and resources • Any free downloads released during the month The only thing overflow participants won't receive is access to the private community itself. While we'd love for everyone to join the community, we believe it's important to keep it relational and personal for the writers already inside.
